Wasn't that the day of the week on which his son was killed?

Which may have simply been a case of casual Friday taken too far.

e.g. "On all other days, we have a very strict no-crucifixion policy."

Perhaps each casual Friday comes with one commandment you can relax about, like "This week, don't worry about that 'I am the Lord your god' business."
